It’s finals month, and it’s time to tap into academic weapon mode. All of us high school and college kids know that if it does not get done now, it won’t get done. Unless you have discipline (like me).
With Thanksgiving break just ending and Christmas break making an appearance in 2-to-3 weeks, school is going to go in and end the semester brutally with a ton of work on our shoulders.
To maintain a clear mind and not drop into any level of insanity, you’re going to need these five tips to power through!
Start Early:
If you don’t start now, knowing you, it’ll never get done. Grab your laptop and/or iPad and use them to the best of your advantage. Your keyboards and screens will be tired before you are.
Tap into that mindset of having everything completed before the break and after you can rest. Remind yourself that a grade doesn’t define you, but right now it can tell if you’re going to have a career or diploma.
Make a game plan:
How can you play the game without a plan? A calendar or traditional planner is needed in order to make sure you hit every point. List every assignment that’s due in these few weeks.
Start with the time-consuming things and work yourself down.
Don’t be hard on yourself:
Remember, your grade doesn’t define you. No degree can define your character. In 10 years, there’s a slight chance you won’t feel this stress, so stop stressing now. Get your stuff done and complain later so you can finally relax.
Prioritize Sleep:
Go to bed. Seriously. Staying up until 4 AM or waking UP at 4 AM is not okay unless you’re hitting 7-8 hours of sleep as recommended. Get your butt in bed and sleep. Your brain cannot work when you’re tired.
Office Hours/Study Hall:
Take advantage of those office hours, because, girl, if you don’t know how, they probably will. I cannot stress this enough because they are actually helpful when needed. If you have a question, just email them.
