Learning to be Alone, Not Lonely

What is the difference between the two?

Many people don’t know the difference between being alone and being lonely or experiencing the feeling of loneliness. Being alone is the physical state of what you are. Of being on one’s own, by yourself. Being lonely means being in an unhealthy state of mind, feeling alone, and being emotionally disconnected from the world and/or other people.

How can I achieve being in my own company?

- Meeting Your Needs Putting yourself first is the key to everything. As long as you face your emotions instead of repressing them, you’ll be mentally content with yourself.

- Learn a hobby Focus on something you like to do. It doesn’t have to be something you’re good at; it just has to be something you enjoy doing. It helps to keep a positive mind during the darkest moments.

- Social Media Detox A lot of people forget to realize that whatever is displayed on social media is never true and correct, so don’t let that diminish the true meaning of what it is to be happy.

- Mental Health Checks Mental health is just as important as physical health. Focusing on peace and your mentality can bring you comfort and heighten your self-esteem.

Wanting to be alone should never be taken as a bad thing, and if you feel as though maybe you need a break, go for it! It’s better to be in touch with yourself than out of touch.
