Tiktok Trend: Soft Girl Era

*Image from Pinterest*

For the past year, there has been a trend going on about the apparent ‘soft life’. We’re accustomed to the classic hustle and bustle of nine-to-fives and no breaks. This trend is the complete opposite of that.

According to social media, the soft life is resting and relaxing; it embraces rest and ease, a moment to relax and not dwell on your job.

It all started off with black women deciding that their comfort comes before their work. There is no particular way to corner this term because it’s subjective to everyone.

The soft life for some might be fine dining, beautiful vacations in different countries, or spending a large quantity of money, or it could be journaling, completing habits like exercising or making time for yourself.

It’s like a Sunday reset day, but every day.

Now, you may be thinking. How can I achieve this level of thinking for myself? How can I give myself a soft life? Easy! That’s why I’m here to explain it to you.

Rest, rest, rest!

Resting is the most important thing to do. It’s essential if you will. Sometimes there are days when your schedule is filled to the brim and you’re overloaded with errands and activities to do.

Regardless of age in this situation, leave that assignment alone, turn off your alarm to check work emails, or don’t go out to that frat party your friends have been asking you to go to. All you need is rest.

We’re humans; we all deserve to lie down and enjoy our presence every once in a while. Maybe every day, if you want. But don’t let your responsibilities slip. It’s important to stay on top of yourself.

Make an aesthetically pleasing routine:

It’s much easier to do your routine when you make it look pretty. I know on social media they are quick to shove in your face how much money they’re paying just from the looks of their apartment.

But have no fear; your surroundings don’t have to be pretty just the way you make them look. Even I, someone who shares a room, make my life look somewhat aesthetically pleasing.

Have Boundaries

We are not here to stress and overwhelm ourselves, are we? You don’t have to be a people-pleaser. Everyone has their limits, including you.

If you have marked everything on your list as done except for one minor thing, it’s there tomorrow. Go rest and take some time!
